SUNY Oneonta
Finalist, Acquia Engage Award.
SUNY Oneonta’s public-facing site operated on a base of a Drupal 7 installation and did not adhere to best practices or Drupal standards in architecture, coding, and theming. The site was highly customized with several uniquely designed modules and database structures which made it difficult to scale and add enhancements. It created an architecture that resulted in severe performance issues, causing frequent service interruptions. Though a move to Acquia Cloud Platform helped create a more stable environment, it failed to address the underlying architectural limitations manifested within Drupal itself.
For SUNY Oneonta to get the best from Acquia Cloud Platform and achieve its goals of accessibility, stability, and scalability, Digital Echidna planned for and then executed the migration of the website to Drupal 8, upgrading to a fully responsive and accessible site design that broadens their user base considerably. Digital Echidna was able to complete this project with no interruptions in SUNY Oneonta’s web services.
