Ingenium Canada

When the Canadian Science and Technology Museums Corporation (CSTMC) rebranded itself as “Ingenium”, they sought to bring a refreshed spirit and unified purpose to the activities of its three Ottawa sites: the museums of Agriculture, Aviation, and Science and Technology. With its reputation and budget under national scrutiny, the client sought an experienced technology partner to carry its new Ingenium brand online, through all its digital assets.

Digital Echidna focused on modernizing current processes and systems through the implementation of an open-source content-management system, Drupal 8. The result is synergy and efficiency for administrators, and a better user experience for patrons.

This project rolled out in phases. The first phase included the creation of a new website called “Ingenium Channel”. This digital hub features curated content related to science, technology and innovation. The second phase included sunsetting the legacy corporate website, Techno-science.ca, into this new Drupal platform and a new url, ingeniumcanada.org. Content was imported from legacy RedDot into Drupal. The layout and appearance of the site was enhanced with a refreshed interface delivering a better mobile experience. The three museums each maintain their own brand and content, but exist within the new, overarching mother site. Hours, calendar of events, fees, directions, exhibitions, and educational programs from all museums can be found with a user-friendly on-site search engine functionality powered by Apache SOLR.
