TVO provides learning opportunities for Ontarians through innovative educational products, in-depth current affairs, groundbreaking documentaries and award-winning TVOKids resources both inside and outside the classroom.
TVO sought a Drupal implementation service partner to assist with a rebuild of the flagship TVOKids.com. The new site would replace a Flash desktop site powered by Drupal 6 and the separate Drupal 7 mobile site, with one modern responsive site and deliver new branding, graphic design, a new user experience, and behind-the-scenes upgrades to various web technologies. The new TVOKids.com needed to be evolvable, highly reliable, and safely accommodate production releases while remaining live (continuous delivery).
Digital Echidna was hired to accelerate construction of the specific modules and content types needed for the ambitious new TVOKids.com (both back-end and front-end). The team took ownership of mobile theming, dynamic data exports and imports, and complex Drupal development. This work included using Drupal hooks and API’s, developing custom content types in code and incorporating Drupal templates based on wireframes.
Digital Echidna sent one of its own Drupal Grand Master-certified team members to work on site for the duration of the project. This ensured consistency, bolstered communication and assisted client to vendor collaboration. Having a Drupal expert on site also aided in the knowledge transfer to unionized TVO employees to the benefit of future operation and maintenance of TVOKids.com. (less)
